Filming Nicol and David’s wedding at the Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix, AZ was such an incredible time. The mountain range behind the resort along with the various kinds of cacti made for the best desert backdrop.
The Royal Palms was absolutely stunning! Every corner offered a new aesthetic with endless filming possibilities. The warm creams and oranges of the buildings really allowed the pops of green and blue to stand out. Between the various succulents, which by the way were bigger than our heads, and the tile work of the numerous fountains, everything seemed to compliment each other seamlessly.
One of our favorite parts of the day is always the talking head style interviews. It’s the time in which the bride and groom get to tell us why they love their partner so much. With Nicol and David, everything they said just felt so real. Their love and the way they had always been there for each other, no matter the circumstances, just felt so solid and steadfast. They are so selfless in their love for each other, wanting only the best for that person, and that was a truly special thing to capture.
After the ceremony, decided to take advantage of golden hour and we are so glad we did. The setting sun blanketed everything in this warm glow that worked so well with the resort’s color scheme. Between their radiating joy and the sun casting a halo around them, Nicol and David looked like angels.
Their outdoor reception was absolutely beautiful with the white and green floral arrangements and the tapered candles on the tables. About halfway through, though, it started raining and we had to quickly move everything inside. While it did physically rain on their parade, we’re not sure anything could have figuratively rained on their parade. They were married and that’s all they really cared about.
We loved filming Nicol and David’s wedding and we are just so excited for this journey ahead of them. Check out their short film see some desert magic.
