Yachats is known to those who know Oregon as the Gem of the Oregon Coast — a tiny village of galleries, bakeries, and tide pool-front cabins that sits at the base of Cape Perpetua, one of the most dramatic headlands on the entire Pacific seaboard. The Yachats River meets the ocean here, creating a layered estuary that shifts color with every tide, and the volcanic rock shelves along the shore generate the spouting horns and surging channels that make this stretch of coast unlike anywhere else.
Thor's Well — the seemingly bottomless saltwater pool in the basalt shelf just south of Yachats — is one of the most photographed natural features on the Oregon Coast, and Cape Perpetua's summit delivers a sweeping 150-mile coastal view that makes everything else feel small. For couples who want a wedding location that is genuinely awe-inspiring, Yachats delivers without compromise.
Film House Weddings travels to Yachats and the Central Coast from our Portland base for weddings that deserve this setting. The visual richness of this stretch — volcanic rock, old-growth Sitka spruce, surging tidal channels, and the vast Pacific — gives us an extraordinary range of cinematic material to work with. We approach Yachats with the reverence this remarkable place deserves.
Why Choose Film House Weddings
Film House Weddings is a luxury wedding cinematography studio founded by Dennis Mulyar, a first-generation Ukrainian American filmmaker with a Bachelor's degree in Film and 15 years of experience across entertainment, beauty, and traditional film festivals. The studio has worked with clients including companies like Nike, Adidas, Snapchat, Paramount+, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Augustinus Bader. Featured in BRIDES magazine and Washington Wedding Day.
Based in Yachats, our team has filmed hundreds of weddings at venues across the country and beyond. We are not a one-person operation. Film House Weddings is a team of dedicated filmmakers who share the same obsession with cinematic craft, candid emotion, and timeless storytelling. Dennis leads the creative vision while his team executes on the ground. The result is a cinematic experience built for couples who understand that their wedding film is not just for them. It is for future generations.
Every detail of our process exists to serve couples who refuse to take a chance when it comes to preserving their most important moments. We work directly with your planner and photographer to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed. Our team arrives early, stays late, and disappears into your day so you can live every moment fully.

Yachats Wedding Tips
Thor's Well Timing is Critical
Thor's Well is most dramatic and photogenic during high tide and incoming swells, but can be dangerous to approach closely. Plan portrait visits at mid-tide with a safe distance — the visual impact is extraordinary without the risk.
Cape Perpetua Summit Views
The Cape Perpetua Auto Tour road leads to a summit viewpoint with a 150-mile coastal panorama. Include a thirty-minute stop here for portrait work — the scale of the view behind your couple is unlike anything achievable at sea level.
Yachats Village Character
Yachats has fewer than 700 permanent residents and very limited commercial infrastructure. For large weddings, plan catering and logistics to come from Florence or Newport — local vendor options are intentionally limited.
Old Growth Spruce Canopy
The old-growth Sitka spruce forest at Cape Perpetua creates an extraordinary forest-ceremony setting within five minutes of the ocean. The scale of the trees dwarfs everything beneath them, creating a profound sense of place.

Yachats Wedding Videography FAQ
How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost in Yachats?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day — we do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. Pricing scales with coverage hours, team size, deliverables, and travel. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your wedding.
Do you travel to Yachats from Portland?
Yes. Yachats is approximately 2.5 hours from our Portland base. We travel to Yachats and the Central Oregon Coast for weddings that call for this setting. A travel fee applies — we include this transparently in your proposal.
How far in advance should we book our Yachats wedding videographer?
We recommend booking 9 to 14 months in advance. Yachats has very limited venue capacity and the Overleaf Lodge books well ahead of peak season. Reach out as soon as your date is confirmed.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
What makes Yachats the Gem of the Oregon Coast?
Yachats combines volcanic geology, old-growth spruce forest, a pristine river estuary, and the dramatic tide pools and spouting horns of Cape Perpetua in a single compact stretch of coastline. The visual density here is extraordinary — there is a cinematic frame in every direction.
Do you offer drone coverage for Yachats weddings?
Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on where airspace and federal land rules permit. Cape Perpetua from the air is one of the most stunning drone shots available on the Oregon Coast. We coordinate all permissions ahead of your wedding day.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
What is the best time of year to get married in Yachats?
July through September is peak season with the most reliable weather. The Central Coast around Yachats sees more fog in June and more rain from October onward. That said, a dramatic overcast or stormy day at Cape Perpetua films with extraordinary power.
