Wedding Videography in Washington DC

Washington DC is unlike any other wedding city in the country. The backdrop here is not just beautiful — it carries weight. Monument views at golden hour, candlelit ceremonies inside historic Georgetown row houses, receptions in Smithsonian galleries surrounded by the most important artifacts of American history. Every wedding in this city is set against a stage that took centuries to build, and that gravitas translates beautifully to film.

We have filmed weddings throughout the DC metro area — from intimate embassy row townhouses to grand ballrooms inside the Library of Congress. The city's architectural rigor and ceremonial grandeur demand a cinematographer who understands that restraint and precision matter as much as technical craft. Our editorial approach strips away the superfluous and lets the elegance of your day speak for itself.

Whether you are hosting a black-tie affair at a historic estate in Northern Virginia or a garden ceremony in Georgetown followed by dancing inside a renovated Bethesda venue, we build your film around the moments that define you as a couple. The monuments are beautiful, but it is the quiet looks between you that will move you to tears twenty years from now.

Washington DC Wedding Tips

Plan around permits

Many DC monuments and public spaces require filming permits that must be arranged weeks in advance. We handle all coordination but need the venue and timeline confirmed early so nothing is left to chance on your wedding day.

Use the golden hour near the Mall

The monuments at sunset are extraordinary for portraits. If your timeline allows a brief stop near the Lincoln Memorial or Jefferson Memorial between ceremony and reception, those few minutes will produce your most memorable film frames.

Lean into the architecture

DC's Beaux-Arts and Federal architecture creates natural frames and leading lines that cinematographers dream about. Venues with arched doorways, marble staircases, and formal colonnades photograph with almost no effort — let the building do the work.

Build in traffic buffer time

DC traffic is notoriously unpredictable, especially near the Mall and major corridors. Every vendor timeline should include generous buffers. We always scout the route before your wedding day so our team is never late to a key moment.

Washington DC Wedding Videography FAQ

Do you film weddings in Washington DC?

Yes. We film throughout Washington DC and the greater metro area, including Georgetown, Arlington, Alexandria, Bethesda, Northern Virginia estates, and Maryland venues. The city's historic architecture and landmark backdrops make it one of our favorite markets to work in.

Can you film near the Washington Monument or Lincoln Memorial?

Filming near DC's monuments and public spaces requires coordination with the National Park Service. We manage all permitting conversations as part of our pre-wedding planning process. Most couples incorporate a short portrait stop near the monuments between their ceremony and reception.

What DC venues do you recommend for film?

The Hay-Adams, Anderson House, Dumbarton House, Carnegie Institution, and Morven Park in Leesburg all photograph extraordinarily well. We recommend venues with natural light, high ceilings, and architectural detail — DC has no shortage of them.

What is included in a DC wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with DC wedding planners and photographers?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Do you cover Northern Virginia and Maryland weddings?

Yes. Our DC market includes Northern Virginia estates like Morven Park and Goodstone Inn, as well as Maryland venues near Bethesda and Chevy Chase. If your venue is within the metro area, we cover it as part of our DC service region.

What is your style for DC wedding films?

Our films are editorial and cinematic — closer to a short film than a traditional wedding video. We focus on quiet emotional moments alongside the grandeur of DC's architecture and landmarks, creating a film that feels timeless rather than documentary.

Do you offer drone coverage near the Capitol?

Drone usage in DC is subject to FAA restrictions and No Drone Zones near federal buildings and the Mall. We assess drone feasibility for each wedding individually and coordinate with authorities when aerial coverage is possible — typically for Maryland or Virginia venues outside restricted airspace.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
