The Griffin House
Hood River, OR
Wedding Videography at The Griffin House
The Griffin House sits on Westcliff Drive at the western edge of Hood River, on a private cliffside property 500 feet above the Columbia River. The house is roughly 120 years old, and sweeping lawns run out from it to stone terraces that open onto the Columbia River Gorge. The venue holds up to 175 guests, with seated receptions closer to 127 depending on layout, and couples take the house and grounds from 9am to 11pm.
Elevation is what makes this property extraordinary on film. Five hundred feet of height means the camera looks down and across the Gorge rather than at it, and the river reads as a broad band of moving water with the Washington cliffs rising on the far side. That is a genuinely rare wide shot. Most Gorge venues sit at river level and lose the scale entirely. Drone coverage here is exceptional, though the Gorge's notorious winds require planning around, and the same wind that makes Hood River a world capital for kiteboarding will move a bride's veil and hair constantly. Filmed deliberately, that movement is beautiful; unplanned, it is a problem.
The Gorge runs east to west, which means the sun sets straight down the river corridor and the ceremony lawn faces directly into one of the most dramatic golden hours in Oregon. Film House Weddings is based in Portland as well as Orange County, and the Gorge is an hour from our door. We would be honored to film your wedding at The Griffin House.

Does Film House Weddings film weddings at The Griffin House?
Film House Weddings would be honored to film your wedding at The Griffin House. We are based in Portland as well as Orange County, and the Columbia River Gorge is roughly an hour from our Portland base.
What makes The Griffin House special for wedding film?
The property sits 500 feet above the Columbia River, so the camera looks down across the Gorge rather than at it, a wide shot most river-level Gorge venues cannot produce. The Gorge runs east to west, so the sun sets directly down the river corridor behind the ceremony lawn, creating one of the most dramatic golden hours in Oregon.
How does Columbia Gorge wind affect a wedding film?
Hood River is one of the world's premier kiteboarding destinations precisely because the Gorge funnels steady, strong wind. Planned for, it looks beautiful on film. Veils and hair in constant motion read as cinematic. Unplanned, it disrupts audio and decor. We bring wind protection for all audio capture and schedule vow and speech coverage with the conditions in mind.
How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost at The Griffin House?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your wedding.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend 9 to 18 months for peak season (May through October).
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Do you offer drone videography?
Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on, coordinated with local airspace rules and any venue restrictions.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner. Let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it, since our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
Will you provide a second shooter?
Our standard package is filmed by a two-person team. Additional shooters are available as an add-on.
