Sherman Library & Gardens
Corona del Mar, CA
Wedding Videography at Sherman Library & Gardens
Sherman Library & Gardens is a 2.2-acre botanical garden in the Corona del Mar neighborhood of Newport Beach, open to the public by day and available for private events in the evening. Ceremonies typically take place in the Tea Garden, beneath an 81-year-old California pepper tree, with up to 100 ceremony chairs arranged on the lawn. A tropical conservatory housing bromeliads, orchids, ferns, and a koi pond offers a distinct indoor backdrop for photos, and the Pepper Tree Patio, shaded by the same historic tree, works well for cocktail hour. Private wedding use runs from 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with two site coordinators on hand.
The garden's density of distinct micro-environments is what sets it apart on camera. Moving from the open Tea Garden lawn to the shaded conservatory to the desert plant collections elsewhere on the property changes the light, color palette, and texture completely within a five-minute walk, giving a single wedding day genuine visual range without leaving the venue. The pepper tree's canopy, more than eight decades old, filters late-afternoon sun into a dappled pattern across the ceremony lawn that changes character by the hour. The koi pond in the conservatory adds a moving-water element indoors that most garden venues can't offer.
Corona del Mar sits close enough to the coast to catch a marine layer some mornings, which tends to clear by early afternoon and leave clean light for a late-day ceremony. Because the venue is a working public garden by day, private evening access means the property is fully staged and undisturbed by the time coverage begins. Film House Weddings would be honored to film your wedding at Sherman Library & Gardens.
