Rough & Ready Vineyards
Rough and Ready, CA
Wedding Videography at Rough & Ready Vineyards
Rough & Ready Vineyards occupies 16 acres just outside Grass Valley in Nevada County, in the Sierra foothills of Northern California. The property takes its name from the small unincorporated community of Rough and Ready, and it offers multiple ceremony and reception sites across the grounds, most notably a gazebo built from Italian marble that anchors the primary ceremony location. Onsite lodging is available on the property, which has made it a destination for out-of-town couples building a full wedding weekend around the vineyard.
The foothill setting gives this property a different visual character than the coastal wine country venues most Californians picture. Elevation here runs a few thousand feet above the valley floor, and the vineyard rows follow the natural contour of the hills rather than a flat grid, so wide establishing shots pick up genuine topography rather than a level tabletop of vines. The marble gazebo, pale against the surrounding greenery, reads as a strong focal point in ceremony wide shots without needing additional dressing. Rustic touches across the property, exposed wood, string lighting, open-air structures, suit a more relaxed, natural style of coverage than a formal ballroom would.
Sierra foothill weather runs hotter and drier in summer than coastal California, with clear skies that make for reliable golden hour light most of the year, though winter can bring cooler temperatures and occasional rain worth planning around. The distance from the coast also means less marine layer interference, so sunset timing is more predictable here than at beach venues. Film House Weddings films throughout California and would be honored to film your wedding at Rough & Ready Vineyards.
