Rancho Los Cerritos

Long Beach, CA

Wedding Videography at Rancho Los Cerritos

Rancho Los Cerritos is a two-story adobe built in 1844, one of the oldest structures in Southern California and a designated National, State, and Long Beach Historic Landmark. The 4.7-acre site sits in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach, its rooms furnished to reflect the ranch's working life in the 1860s through 1880s. The Backyard garden, anchored by a Moreton Bay Fig tree more than 150 years old, handles ceremonies and receptions for up to 350 guests, while the Inner Courtyard, with its reflecting pond and adobe facade, seats up to 150. Smaller brick-floored patios accommodate intimate gatherings of around 40.

What makes this property distinct on camera is the layering of eras in a single frame: adobe walls the color of the surrounding hills, a century and a half of garden growth, and California light that has been falling on this exact stucco since the 1840s. The reflecting pond in the Inner Courtyard doubles the ceremony arch and the sky above it, a detail worth building a shot around rather than shooting past. Late afternoon sun through the fig tree's canopy scatters across the Backyard lawn in a way that changes by the hour, so timing coverage to that light matters more here than at a venue with uniform shade.

Long Beach's coastal marine layer tends to burn off by midday, which usually leaves the golden hour clear and workable for portraits among the gardens. Because Rancho Los Cerritos requires catering and rental vendors from an approved list, the day tends to run on a tight, well-managed schedule, which is good news for anyone building a shot list around it. Film House Weddings would be honored to film your wedding at Rancho Los Cerritos.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend 9 to 18 months for peak season (May through October).

What is included in a wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Do you offer drone videography?

Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on, coordinated with local airspace rules and any venue restrictions.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner. Let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it, since our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters.
