Wedding Videography at Darlington House

Darlington House was built in 1925 as a private summer home in La Jolla and is now owned and operated by the Social Service League of La Jolla, with event proceeds supporting the League's work housing and feeding local seniors. The estate sits just blocks from the ocean and is organized around several distinct outdoor rooms: the Egyptian Patio, which holds up to 100 for ceremonies, the Rose Garden, seating up to 175 for ceremony and reception, and the Andalusian Patio and library, used for cocktail hours. Tiled courtyards, fountains, and architectural details collected from multiple traditions give the property a layered, well-traveled character.

The range of named spaces is what makes this estate useful for a wedding film. A ceremony in the Egyptian Patio, cocktails in the Andalusian courtyard, and a reception in the Rose Garden give three visually distinct settings across one evening without ever leaving the property, each with its own architectural vocabulary, tile work, arches, and fountains that read differently on camera. The proximity to the coast also means La Jolla's particular quality of marine light, softer and cooler than inland San Diego, shows up in every exterior frame.

La Jolla's coastal position means the marine layer is a real factor, mornings can run overcast well into midday during May and June before clearing. Darlington House books relatively far out, so planning ceremony timing around that coastal weather pattern is worth doing early. Film House Weddings films throughout Southern California and would be honored to film your wedding at Darlington House.

How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost at Darlington House?

Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your wedding.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend 9 to 18 months for peak season (May through October).

What is included in a wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Do you offer drone videography?

Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on, coordinated with local airspace rules and any venue restrictions.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner. Let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it, since our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.

Will you provide a second shooter?

Our standard package is filmed by a two-person team. Additional shooters are available as an add-on.
