Traverse City has quietly become one of America's most beautiful destination wedding markets — a place where the crystal-clear waters of Grand Traverse Bay, cherry orchards in full bloom, and a world-class wine country have combined to create something that genuinely rivals coastal destinations. The Leelanau Peninsula and Old Mission Peninsula, both jutting into Lake Michigan, host dozens of vineyard estates and farm venues with a landscape quality that draws photographers and filmmakers from across the country.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, just west of the city, offers some of the most dramatically beautiful scenery in the Midwest — towering sand dunes above Lake Michigan's turquoise waters that create portraits unlike anything else in the region. The combination of wine country, Great Lakes maritime character, and cherry orchard agriculture gives Traverse City a distinctly layered visual identity that is endlessly rewarding to film.
Film House Weddings travels to Traverse City and northern Michigan for luxury weddings, drawn by the extraordinary quality of Great Lakes light, the dramatic natural beauty of the peninsulas, and the warmth of a destination wedding community that does this exceptionally well. We bring the same cinematic craft that has earned us 51 consecutive five-star Google reviews to every northern Michigan celebration.

Traverse City Wedding Tips
Peak Season Booking Timeline
Traverse City is a highly seasonal destination — July and August weekends at vineyard and waterfront venues book out 12 to 18 months in advance. If a summer northern Michigan wedding is your vision, begin your vendor search immediately after your engagement and lock in your date before any other planning decisions.
Sleeping Bear Dunes for Portraits
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore produces some of the most dramatically beautiful wedding portraits anywhere in the Midwest — towering dunes above Lake Michigan's turquoise water with a light quality that is unlike anything else in the region. Most couples schedule a dedicated portrait session at the Dunes even if their venue is elsewhere.
Cherry Blossom Season in Late May
Traverse City's cherry orchards bloom in late May, transforming the Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas into a canopy of white and pink blossoms. A late May wedding date in cherry blossom season produces imagery that is genuinely extraordinary — but this window is extremely narrow and venues book out fast. Plan accordingly.
Guest Transportation Planning
Northern Michigan venues are spread across a large geographic area with limited transportation options. A coordinated shuttle service between your ceremony venue, reception site, and guest hotel block is essential for any Traverse City wedding with guests traveling from outside the region. Your planner can arrange the logistics.

How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost in Traverse City?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Traverse City weddings range from intimate vineyard ceremonies to grand resort celebrations — we factor the full scope and travel into every proposal. We do not publish flat pricing — reach out through our Connect page for a tailored quote.
Do you travel for weddings to Traverse City?
Yes. Film House Weddings is based in Orange County, California and Portland, Oregon. Traverse City and northern Michigan are a destination travel market for us. Travel fees apply and will be included transparently in your proposal.
How far in advance should we book our Traverse City wedding videographer?
We recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance for Traverse City weddings. Peak season dates in July and August at Leelanau Peninsula and Old Mission Peninsula venues fill extremely fast. Reach out early to confirm availability for your preferred date.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Which Traverse City venues have you filmed at?
We have filmed at venues across northern Michigan including Old Mission Peninsula winery estates, Leelanau Peninsula vineyard properties, and Grand Traverse Bay waterfront resorts. If your venue is new to us, we scout the property ahead of your wedding day to understand light, timing, and flow.
Do you offer drone and aerial wedding videography in Traverse City?
Yes. Drone coverage is available for Traverse City and northern Michigan weddings at appropriate locations. The Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas from above — surrounded by Grand Traverse Bay on both sides — are among the most stunning aerial wedding perspectives in the country. We coordinate all drone flights with your venue and FAA regulations in advance.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
Will you provide a second shooter or videographer at our Traverse City wedding?
Our standard Traverse City package includes a two-person team — one cinematographer with each partner during getting ready, then full coverage for the ceremony, portraits, and reception. For larger resort celebrations or multi-location peninsula days, additional shooters are available as an add-on confirmed during the proposal stage.
