Luxury Sequim Wedding Videographer
Film House Weddings captures luxury wedding films in Sequim, the Lavender Capital of North America. The Olympic rain shadow delivers more sunshine than Seattle, lavender rows bloom purple in July, and Dungeness Spit curves into the Strait like a silver brushstroke.

Sequim is Washington's best-kept climate secret. Tucked into the Olympic rain shadow — a meteorological phenomenon where the Olympic Mountains block most of the Pacific precipitation — Sequim receives dramatically less rainfall than Seattle, just 16 inches per year compared to Seattle's 37 inches. The result is a sun-drenched Olympic Peninsula community surrounded by lavender farms, horse pastures, and views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Canadian Gulf Islands that feel genuinely Mediterranean in summer.
The Dungeness Valley's lavender industry — which has earned Sequim the title of Lavender Capital of North America — creates a wedding backdrop unlike anything else in Washington State. During peak bloom in July, the fields of purple lavender against the backdrop of the Olympic foothills and the distant Cascades across the Strait are breathtaking. The annual Lavender Festival in mid-July draws 30,000 visitors, but the farms themselves remain available for intimate private events throughout the season.
Film House Weddings is based in Portland, Oregon — approximately four hours from Sequim via US-101 around the Hood Canal or via the Kingston-Edmonds ferry. We love the quality of Olympic Peninsula light — the clear, dry air of the rain shadow creates a distinctly different atmosphere from the lush overcast of the Puget Sound region — and we know how to use lavender, driftwood, and mountain backdrops to build wedding films that are cinematic, fragrant, and uniquely Sequim.
Why Choose Film House Weddings

Sequim Wedding Tips
Lavender Peaks Mid-July
If lavender in full bloom is central to your vision, target a date between July 10 and July 25. The Lavender Festival weekend (third weekend of July) is extraordinarily crowded — book accommodation 6 months in advance and alert your guests early if you plan a July date.
Rain Shadow Means Real Sunshine
Sequim's rain shadow is real and significant. While Seattle may be overcast, Sequim can be sunny and warm. This creates a distinctive quality of Olympic Peninsula light — clearer, warmer, and more directional than the soft diffusion of the western Sound. We love shooting in it.
Combine with Port Townsend
Sequim and Port Townsend are just 30 minutes apart on US-101. Many couples base their welcome dinner in Port Townsend's Victorian downtown and hold their ceremony on a lavender farm in Sequim. The combination is extraordinary.
Dungeness Spit for Portraits
The 5.5-mile Dungeness Spit — the longest natural sand spit in the United States — curving into the Strait is one of Washington's most dramatic natural landscapes. A portrait walk to the lighthouse at golden hour creates images that will anchor your wedding film.

Sequim Wedding Videography FAQ
How much does a luxury Sequim wedding videographer cost?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. We do not publish flat pricing. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your Sequim or lavender farm celebration.
Do you travel to Sequim from Portland?
Yes. Film House Weddings is based in Portland, Oregon — approximately four hours from Sequim. We coordinate all logistics including ferry crossings and overnight accommodation. Travel fees are discussed transparently during the proposal stage.
How far in advance should we book for a Sequim lavender wedding?
Lavender season dates (July) fill extremely quickly. We recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance for July dates. Non-lavender-season dates have more availability — reach out and we will confirm.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Can we have a ceremony in an actual lavender field?
Yes. Several Sequim farms offer private event use with ceremony spaces amid the lavender rows. We work within the specific rules of each farm and know how to position camera angles that maximize the purple sea of lavender in your film.
Is drone coverage available over Sequim lavender farms?
Yes. Aerial footage of lavender rows from above — the geometric pattern of purple and green against the mountain backdrop — is extraordinary. All drone flights are coordinated with farm permissions and FAA airspace rules.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
What makes Sequim unique as a wedding destination?
Nowhere else in Washington can you have your ceremony in lavender fields with Olympic Mountain views on a sunny afternoon — the rain shadow makes the difference. The Dungeness Valley has a Provencal quality that is genuinely surprising for the Pacific Northwest, and the resulting wedding films reflect that unexpected beauty.
