Wedding Videography in San Simeon

San Simeon sits at the southern edge of Big Sur, where the Santa Lucia Mountains plunge dramatically into the Pacific and Hearst Castle presides over the hills like a Californian Versailles. This stretch of coastline is among the most visually arresting in the United States — rugged, cinematic, and vast — and for couples seeking a wedding backdrop that feels truly epic, there is nowhere quite like it.

The area around San Simeon and Ragged Point offers sweeping coastal bluffs, dramatic cliffside vistas, and the raw, windswept beauty of central California. Nearby Cambria provides charming inn accommodations and a village atmosphere, while Morro Bay to the south rounds out a region rich with character and landscape. Hearst Castle's hilltop silhouette at golden hour is one of the great visual statements of California's Central Coast.

Film House Weddings films throughout the Central Coast and Southern California. We know the light along Highway 1, the coastal fog patterns, and the way late afternoon sun transforms the rocky shoreline into something out of a landscape painting. For couples who want a cinematic wedding film that feels as grand as their setting, San Simeon delivers on every level.

5 Questions to Ask Your Wedding Videographer Before You Book

The questions most couples don't ask that stop them from hiring someone truly exceptional.

San Simeon Wedding Tips

Embrace the Coastal Fog

San Simeon and the Big Sur south coast are famous for their marine layer. Summer mornings often start overcast before burning off by midday. Schedule ceremonies for early afternoon to catch the clearest skies — and embrace any lingering mist on film.

Plan for Wind

Coastal bluff venues near Ragged Point and Piedras Blancas can be very windy, especially in spring and fall. Consider wind direction when choosing ceremony orientation, and opt for structured florals and weighted decor.

Accommodate Your Guests

San Simeon is remote. The nearest major city is San Luis Obispo, about 45 minutes south. Block hotel rooms early in Cambria and San Simeon — lodging is limited and fills fast for weekend events, especially in summer.

Golden Hour on the Bluffs

The west-facing coastal bluffs deliver extraordinary golden hour light from May through October. Build a 30-minute portrait window into the hour before sunset for the most cinematic frames of your film.

San Simeon Wedding Videography FAQ

How much does a wedding videographer in San Simeon cost?

Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day — we do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. Pricing scales with coverage hours, team size, deliverables, and travel. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your wedding.

Do you travel to San Simeon and the Central Coast for weddings?

Yes. Film House Weddings is based in Orange County, California and Portland, Oregon. We film weddings throughout the Central Coast, Big Sur, and all of California. Travel fees may apply for remote locations.

How far in advance should we book our San Simeon wedding videographer?

We recommend booking 9 to 18 months in advance for peak season dates. San Simeon and Central Coast venues book early, and our calendar fills quickly. We occasionally have last-minute availability — reach out and we will let you know.

What is included in a wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Which San Simeon venues have you filmed at?

We have filmed at venues throughout the Central Coast and Southern California. If your venue is somewhere we have not visited before, we scout light, timing, and flow ahead of your wedding day so nothing is left to chance.

Do you offer drone and aerial wedding videography in San Simeon?

Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on for San Simeon weddings. Drone usage is coordinated ahead of time with your venue, planner, and local airspace rules to make sure everything is cleared for your wedding day.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.

Will you provide a second shooter or videographer?

Our standard San Simeon package is filmed by a two-person team — one cinematographer with each partner during getting ready, then full coverage for the ceremony, portraits, and reception. Additional shooters are available as an add-on and confirmed during the proposal stage.
