San Francisco is one of the most visually iconic wedding destinations in the world. From the grand Beaux-Arts grandeur of City Hall to the wind-swept cliffs of the Presidio, the cobblestoned elegance of Nob Hill, and the salt-kissed bluffs of Half Moon Bay, the city and its surroundings offer an extraordinary range of settings for couples who want their wedding to feel like a film. Few cities pack this much visual drama into such a compact geography.
The famous San Francisco fog is not just weather — it is atmosphere. When it rolls through the Golden Gate at dusk or hangs in silver layers over the Bay, it adds a cinematic quality to every frame that no other city can replicate. Couples who embrace the fog rather than fight it end up with wedding films that feel genuinely transportive. For those who prefer crisp sunshine, late September through November delivers some of the clearest skies and warmest days the city offers.
Film House Weddings travels regularly to the Bay Area for luxury weddings and brings the same obsessive attention to craft and storytelling that has earned us 51 consecutive five-star Google reviews. Whether your celebration is a grand Nob Hill hotel affair, an intimate Sausalito waterfront dinner, or a dramatic clifftop ceremony in Marin, we are ready to capture it.

San Francisco Wedding Tips
Work With the Fog, Not Against It
San Francisco fog is one of the city's most cinematic elements. Build buffer into your portrait timeline so if the fog clears at golden hour you can capitalize on it. Late afternoon fog breaks over the bay can produce extraordinary light that no other city delivers.
City Hall Permit Planning
San Francisco City Hall books quickly and requires specific photography and videography permits. Confirm your permit and time slot well in advance and coordinate with your planner on the best rotunda position and north-light windows for portraits.
Explore Neighborhoods for Portraits
The city's neighborhoods — Nob Hill, the Embarcadero, the Mission, North Beach — each have a distinct visual character. Building even thirty minutes of neighborhood portrait time into your day dramatically expands the visual storytelling of your film.
Napa and Sonoma Combination Weddings
Many Bay Area couples combine a San Francisco ceremony with a Napa or Sonoma reception. This works beautifully on film — city skyline in the morning, rolling vineyards in the afternoon. Factor in Highway 101 traffic on Saturdays when building your timeline.

San Francisco Wedding Videography FAQ
How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost in San Francisco?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day — we do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. San Francisco weddings often involve multi-location days, permits, and complex logistics that we factor into every proposal. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a tailored quote.
Do you travel for weddings to San Francisco?
Yes. Film House Weddings is based in Orange County, California and Portland, Oregon. San Francisco and the Bay Area are a regular travel market for us. Travel fees may apply depending on the wedding date and logistics — we will include all travel costs transparently in your proposal.
How far in advance should we book our San Francisco wedding videographer?
We recommend booking 9 to 18 months in advance for peak season dates. In San Francisco, late spring through early fall books fastest, though September and October are the city's sunniest months and also extremely popular. City Hall and Cavallo Point fill their calendars quickly — book early.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Which San Francisco venues have you filmed at?
We have filmed at venues across the Bay Area including San Francisco City Hall, Cavallo Point Lodge, estate properties in Marin, and wine country venues in Napa and Sonoma. If your venue is new to us, we scout light, timing, and flow ahead of your wedding day so nothing is left to chance.
Do you offer drone and aerial wedding videography in San Francisco?
Drone coverage is available as an add-on for San Francisco weddings where airspace permits. The city and surrounding areas have specific FAA restrictions — particularly near SFO and the bay — so we coordinate all drone flights well in advance with your venue and local airspace regulations.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
Will you provide a second shooter or videographer at our San Francisco wedding?
Our standard San Francisco package includes a two-person team — one cinematographer with each partner during getting ready, then full coverage for the ceremony, portraits, and reception. Multi-location Bay Area weddings often benefit from a larger team, which is available as an add-on confirmed during the proposal stage.
