Wedding Videography in New York City

New York City is the wedding destination that requires no introduction — and yet it continues to surprise. Beyond the obvious grandeur of a Plaza Hotel ballroom or a Central Park carousel reception, the city reveals an infinite range of wedding settings: raw Brooklyn loft spaces with Manhattan skyline backdrops, rooftop terraces perched above Midtown's canyon of light, waterfront promenades along the Hudson with the Lower Manhattan skyline glowing at dusk, and intimate townhouses in the West Village that feel worlds apart from the city's velocity. Every neighborhood has its own visual identity, and every wedding here tells a uniquely New York story.

The peak wedding season in New York runs from May through October, with September and October offering the finest combination of weather and light. The city's foliage turns in late October, transforming Central Park and the Hudson Valley into something extraordinary, while May brings that particular freshness to the skyline that only comes after a New York winter. The Hamptons extend the season with their own calendar, packed with luxury weekends from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.

Film House Weddings brings the full weight of our cinematic craft to every New York wedding. The city is inherently cinematic — it has been the backdrop of more great films than anywhere else on earth — and we treat your wedding with the same intentionality a great director brings to shooting on its streets. Every frame carries the city's energy, architecture, and light.

5 Questions to Ask Your Wedding Videographer Before You Book

The questions most couples don't ask that stop them from hiring someone truly exceptional.

New York City Wedding Tips

September Is NYC's Best Month

September delivers New York's finest wedding weather — warm days, low humidity, and that particular clarity of light that comes after the summer heat breaks. The social calendar is packed, so book all vendors and your venue as early as 18 to 24 months out for a September Saturday.

Permits for Public Spaces

Portraits in Central Park, on the Brooklyn Bridge, or along the High Line require photography permits. Your planner or a local permit coordinator can handle this — just make sure it is on the checklist. The investment is worth it for the locations.

Logistics in Manhattan Are Complex

Getting-ready locations, ceremony sites, portrait locations, and reception venues in NYC often require navigating traffic, elevator schedules, and building security. Work with a planner who has deep NYC experience to build a realistic timeline.

Golden Hour in the City

Manhattan's east-west street grid creates a phenomenon called Manhattanhenge in late May and mid-July when the sun aligns perfectly with the grid and the canyon light is extraordinary. Outside of that, the best city light occurs in the final hour before sunset from any west-facing rooftop or the Hudson waterfront.

New York City Wedding Videography FAQ

How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost in New York City?

Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day — we do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. New York City weddings often involve additional logistics including travel, accommodation, and multi-location coordination. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your NYC wedding.

Do you travel for weddings to New York City?

Yes. Film House Weddings travels to New York City and the greater tri-state area for weddings. From Manhattan's most iconic venues to Hamptons estates and Westchester manor houses, we bring our full cinematic craft to every NYC celebration. Travel fees apply — reach out and we will build your full proposal.

How far in advance should we book our New York City wedding videographer?

We recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance for New York City weddings. September and October Saturdays at top Manhattan venues often book 18 to 24 months out. The competitive NYC wedding market means the best vendors are claimed early.

What is included in a wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Which New York City venues have you filmed at?

We film at venues across the five boroughs and greater New York area — from The Plaza and Cipriani Wall Street to rooftop venues in Brooklyn, Oheka Castle on Long Island, and Hamptons waterfront properties. New venues are scouted ahead of your wedding day.

Do you offer drone videography for New York City weddings?

Drone use within New York City airspace is tightly regulated by the FAA and requires specific waivers and coordination. We handle all permitting and work with certified drone operators licensed for controlled NYC airspace. Aerial coverage is available for appropriate venues and locations.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.

Will you provide a second shooter for our New York City wedding?

Our standard NYC package includes a two-person team. For multi-location Manhattan celebrations, larger venue spaces like Cipriani or the Grand Ballroom at The Plaza, or Hamptons multi-day events, additional shooters are available as an add-on confirmed during the proposal stage.
