Mount Hood is Oregon's most iconic natural landmark — a glacier-capped stratovolcano rising 11,249 feet above the Columbia River Gorge that serves as the visual anchor of the entire Pacific Northwest. For couples drawn to mountains, dramatic skies, and the quiet grandeur of alpine wilderness, a Mt Hood wedding offers something that no vineyard or ballroom can replicate: the feeling that your celebration is taking place at the roof of the world.
The mountain's wedding infrastructure is anchored by Timberline Lodge, the magnificent WPA-era timber-and-stone lodge built in 1937, which is recognized as a National Historic Landmark and one of the most cinematically compelling wedding venues in North America. Government Camp and the Sandy River corridor offer additional lodging and event options at lower elevations, while Ski Bowl provides a broad base area event space with year-round mountain access.
Film House Weddings is based in Portland, roughly seventy minutes west of the mountain, and we have filmed at and around Timberline Lodge many times. The alpine light at elevation is extraordinary — clear, high-contrast, and dramatic in ways that valley light simply cannot match. We know how to position your story against that mountain backdrop to create wedding films that feel genuinely cinematic and deeply Oregonian.

Mount Hood Wedding Tips
Book Timberline Lodge Well in Advance
Timberline Lodge is one of Oregon's most sought-after wedding venues and books out quickly — often 18 months or more for Saturday summer dates. If the lodge is your dream venue, begin the inquiry process as early as your plans allow.
Prepare for Elevation Weather
The weather at 6,000 feet on Mt Hood can change dramatically within a single afternoon. Even in July, temperatures can drop sharply after sunset. Provide guests with a weather advisory and have a plan for your ceremony location if conditions shift.
Use the Mountain as Your Backdrop Strategically
The best mountain views from Timberline face south toward the distant Cascades, not north toward Hood's peak. Work with your photography and video team to plan ceremony and portrait positions relative to the sun's path and mountain sightlines.
Arrange Mountain Transportation
Government Camp and Timberline sit at the end of US-26 with limited parking at peak times. A shuttle service from Portland or a base camp lodging hub in Welches or Sandy is strongly recommended for larger guest counts.

Mount Hood Wedding Videography FAQ
How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost at Mt Hood?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day — we do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. Pricing scales with coverage hours, team size, deliverables, and travel. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your Mt Hood wedding.
Do you travel to Mt Hood from Portland?
Yes. Film House Weddings is based in Portland, Oregon and Mt Hood is approximately seventy minutes east on US-26. We have filmed at Timberline Lodge and other mountain venues and travel fees are discussed transparently during the proposal stage.
How far in advance should we book for a Mt Hood wedding?
We recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance for Timberline Lodge and peak summer dates. The mountain's most iconic venues book quickly and our calendar fills alongside them. Reach out as early as possible.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Have you filmed at Timberline Lodge before?
Yes. We have filmed at Timberline Lodge and throughout the Mt Hood corridor. The lodge's WPA timber architecture, stone fireplaces, and high-alpine setting create a cinematic environment unlike anywhere else in Oregon. We know it well.
Do you offer drone coverage for Mt Hood weddings?
Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on, though Mt Hood's designated wilderness and airspace restrictions require advance coordination. When drone flights are approved, the aerial footage of the glacier, lodge roofline, and Cascades panorama is extraordinary.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
Can you film a multi-day mountain wedding?
Yes. Multi-day coverage for mountain rehearsal hikes, welcome dinners at the lodge, wedding day ceremonies, and farewell brunches is available and discussed during the proposal stage. A Mt Hood weekend retreat makes for an exceptional celebration.
