Wedding Videography in Mill Valley

Mill Valley is one of Northern California's most beloved towns — a place where redwood trees grow to cathedral scale in the canyons above the bay, where morning fog rolls through the streets with a cinematic softness, and where the pace of life slows just enough to make every moment feel intentional. For couples who want a wedding film that feels like a piece of art, Mill Valley provides an almost unfair abundance of visual poetry.

The town's proximity to Mount Tamalpais creates ceremony and elopement opportunities that are genuinely unlike anywhere else in California. Ancient redwood groves, ridge-top meadows with sweeping views of the Bay Area, and intimate creekside clearings give couples a natural canvas that formal venues simply cannot replicate. For indoor receptions, Mill Valley's restored Craftsman buildings and sophisticated local inns offer a warmth and character that reads beautifully on film.

Film House Weddings travels throughout California for weddings that deserve cinematic storytelling. Mill Valley and the Tamalpais foothills are a natural fit for our approach — moody, layered, visually rich environments where the light itself seems designed for wedding cinematography. We bring editorial precision to every frame and a deep respect for the moments that matter most to you.

Why Choose Film House Weddings

Film House Weddings is a luxury wedding cinematography studio founded by Dennis Mulyar, a first-generation Ukrainian American filmmaker with a Bachelor's degree in Film and 15 years of experience across entertainment, beauty, and traditional film festivals. The studio has worked with clients including companies like Nike, Adidas, Snapchat, Paramount+, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Augustinus Bader. Featured in BRIDES magazine and Washington Wedding Day.

Based in Mill Valley, our team has filmed hundreds of weddings at venues across the country and beyond. We are not a one-person operation. Film House Weddings is a team of dedicated filmmakers who share the same obsession with cinematic craft, candid emotion, and timeless storytelling. Dennis leads the creative vision while his team executes on the ground. The result is a cinematic experience built for couples who understand that their wedding film is not just for them. It is for future generations.

Every detail of our process exists to serve couples who refuse to take a chance when it comes to preserving their most important moments. We work directly with your planner and photographer to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed. Our team arrives early, stays late, and disappears into your day so you can live every moment fully.

Mill Valley Wedding Tips

Embrace the Redwood Light

Filtered light through redwood canopies creates a quality of illumination that is genuinely magical on camera — a soft, green-gold dappling that no artificial lighting can replicate. Time your ceremony for mid-morning or late afternoon to capture this effect at its most powerful.

Book Muir Woods Permits Well in Advance

Ceremonies within Muir Woods National Monument require special use permits that can take months to obtain and have strict guest count and timing limitations. Begin the permit process at least a year in advance and work with a planner experienced in national monument events.

Plan for Fog in Early Summer

Mill Valley's June mornings often bring dense marine layer from the Pacific. Most days it burns off by late morning, but plan your ceremony start time no earlier than noon for June and July weddings to ensure clear skies and full natural light.

Keep Guest Counts Intimate

Mill Valley's most character-rich venues are designed for intimate gatherings. Couples who embrace smaller guest lists — 75 or fewer — unlock access to the town's most beautiful and authentic spaces, and create the kind of close-knit celebration that makes for deeply personal wedding films.

Mill Valley Wedding Videography FAQ

How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost in Mill Valley?

Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day — we do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. Pricing scales with coverage hours, team size, deliverables, and travel. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your Mill Valley wedding.

Do you travel to Mill Valley for weddings?

Yes. Film House Weddings is based in Orange County and travels throughout California for luxury weddings. Mill Valley and the Mount Tamalpais area are destinations we love to film — travel fees are discussed transparently during the proposal stage.

How far in advance should we book for a Mill Valley wedding?

We recommend reaching out 9 to 18 months before your date. Marin County venues and permit-required locations like Muir Woods book far in advance. Contact us early to confirm availability.

What is included in a wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Have you filmed in redwood forests before?

Yes. Filming in old-growth redwood environments requires specific knowledge of natural light behavior, sound management under a canopy, and movement within permit-restricted areas. We are experienced in these environments and bring the right equipment and approach for every condition.

Do you offer drone coverage for Mill Valley weddings?

Drone coverage is available as an add-on where permitted. Note that national monument and state park airspace has strict regulations — we research and comply with all local airspace rules and coordinate with your venue or permit authority ahead of your wedding day.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.

Can you film an elopement in the redwoods near Mill Valley?

Yes. We offer intimate elopement coverage in addition to full wedding day packages. The redwood groves and ridge trails around Mount Tamalpais are extraordinary settings for micro-ceremonies and elopements — reach out and we will design the right coverage for your day.
