The Mendocino Coast is Northern California's most romantically remote wedding destination — a wild, windswept coastline of sea stacks, headland bluffs, and the iconic Victorian village of Mendocino perched above the Pacific like something from a storybook. Couples who marry here are drawn to a sense of genuine escape: no traffic, no sprawl, just the elemental beauty of coast and redwood forest.
Fort Bragg and the glass-strewn beach just north of town offer a completely unique landscape — centuries of sea glass tumbled smooth by the Pacific, creating a shoreline unlike any other in the world. The historic Skunk Train winds through old-growth redwood groves, and the coastal bluffs of Mendocino Headlands State Park provide some of the most dramatic ceremony settings in California.
Film House Weddings responds to the Mendocino Coast's extraordinary visual drama. The quality of light here — often softened by marine layer into something almost luminous — creates wedding films of singular beauty and atmosphere.

Mendocino Coast Wedding Tips
Remote Location Logistics
Mendocino is 3+ hours from San Francisco. Plan for a multi-day wedding weekend, book room blocks at the inn early, and arrange shuttle service for guests.
Whale Season
Gray whale migration (December through April, peak in March) adds a spectacular optional backdrop to coastal ceremonies — with whales visible from the headlands.
Permit-Required Headlands
Ceremony permits for Mendocino Headlands State Park are required and limited. Apply through California State Parks at least 90 days out.
September-October Sweet Spot
The coast's warmest, clearest days fall in September and October. Summer fog can be persistent — shoulder season is the local's choice for weddings.

Do you film weddings on the Mendocino Coast?
Yes. Film House Weddings travels throughout Northern California, including the Mendocino Coast, Fort Bragg, and the surrounding redwood coast.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend 9 to 18 months for peak season (May through October).
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Which Mendocino Coast venues have you filmed at?
We have filmed at venues throughout the Mendocino Coast and Northern California. If your venue is new to us, we scout it in advance.
Do you offer drone videography?
Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on, coordinated with local airspace rules and coastal access regulations.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
Will you provide a second shooter?
Our standard package is filmed by a two-person team. Additional shooters are available as an add-on.
