Wedding Videography in Key West

Key West occupies the southernmost point of the continental United States — a small coral island where the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico meet in waters of impossible turquoise clarity. The island's Victorian conch houses in coral, mint, and butter yellow, the bougainvillea spilling over white picket fences, the sunset celebrations at Mallory Square that draw the entire town every evening — these are the details that make Key West one of the most visually distinctive wedding destinations in America.

Key West weddings range from grand celebrations at historic estates to barefoot ceremonies on private beaches at the edge of the Gulf. The island's relaxed, joyful energy — what locals call the Keys state of mind — infuses every wedding with a sense of genuine happiness that translates beautifully on film. Up the Keys, Islamorada and Marathon offer additional resort options with the same tropical waters and clear light in a quieter setting.

Film House Weddings travels to Key West and the Florida Keys for luxury destination weddings. The light here is extraordinary — the particular quality of tropical sun reflected off clear shallow water creates a luminosity that few places in the world can match — and we bring our full cinematic craft to capturing every moment of your island celebration.

Key West Wedding Tips

Sunset Timing at Mallory Square

Mallory Square's nightly sunset celebration is one of Key West's most beloved traditions — and it means the square fills with hundreds of people every evening. If your ceremony or portraits involve the Mallory Square waterfront, plan to arrive before the crowd builds, typically 30 to 45 minutes before official sunset. Work with your planner to coordinate access to the dock area.

Build in an Afternoon Rain Buffer

Key West's tropical climate brings brief afternoon thunderstorms almost daily from June through September. These storms typically pass within 30 minutes and often leave the air clear and the light spectacular — but they require backup ceremony plans at any outdoor venue. October through May is Key West's dry season and ideal for outdoor celebrations.

Destination Wedding Logistics

Key West is accessible by car via the Overseas Highway or by air into Key West International Airport. Many guests fly into Miami or Fort Lauderdale and drive the 3.5-hour scenic route down the Keys. For larger guest lists, coordinate hotel room blocks early — Key West accommodations are limited and book out months in advance, especially around holiday weekends.

The Water is Your Best Backdrop

Key West's surrounding waters — the transparent turquoise of the Gulf side and the deeper Atlantic blue — are the island's most extraordinary visual asset. Build portrait time on or near the water into your wedding day timeline. A brief sunset sail session on a catamaran for portraits is a Key West wedding tradition worth considering.

Key West Wedding Videography FAQ

How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost in Key West?

Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Key West weddings range from intimate garden ceremonies to grand beachfront celebrations — we factor the full scope and travel into every proposal. We do not publish flat pricing — reach out through our Connect page for a tailored quote.

Do you travel for weddings to Key West?

Yes. Film House Weddings is based in Orange County, California and Portland, Oregon. Key West and the Florida Keys are a regular destination wedding market for us. Travel fees apply and will be included transparently in your proposal.

How far in advance should we book our Key West wedding videographer?

We recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance for Key West destination weddings. The island's most sought-after venues and the best dates book out well ahead of season. Reach out early to confirm availability for your preferred date.

What is included in a wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Which Key West venues have you filmed at?

We have filmed at luxury venues throughout the Florida Keys including historic estate gardens, beachfront resorts, and private island properties. If your venue is new to us, we arrive early on the wedding day to understand the light, timing, and flow of the space.

Do you offer drone and aerial wedding videography in Key West?

Yes. Drone coverage is available for Key West weddings at appropriate locations. The turquoise water, coral reef patterns, and island silhouette viewed from above are extraordinary — we coordinate all drone flights with your venue and FAA airspace regulations well in advance.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.

Will you provide a second shooter at our Key West wedding?

Our standard Key West package includes a two-person team — one cinematographer with each partner during getting ready, then full coverage for the ceremony, portraits, and reception. For larger destination celebrations or multi-location Keys days, additional shooters are available as an add-on confirmed during the proposal stage.
