June Lake is the Eastern Sierra's best-kept secret — a loop of four alpine lakes (June, Gull, Silver, and Grant) tucked into a granite canyon just north of Mammoth Lakes, flanked by aspen groves that turn incandescent gold and orange each October. The scale of the Eastern Sierra is simply unlike anything else in California: 14,000-foot peaks rising directly from the desert floor, no ocean haze, no coastal softness — just raw, enormous, crystalline mountain grandeur.
Weddings at June Lake occupy a visual register that most couples have never experienced before. The turquoise waters of the lakes, the white granite peaks reflected in their surfaces, and the aspen-carpeted slopes above create a setting of almost unreal beauty. October brings the Eastern Sierra's famous fall color — aspen gold against sage green and volcanic gray — which makes autumn the most extraordinary season for wedding photography and cinematography in the region.
Film House Weddings brings its cinematic craft to the Eastern Sierra, working with the extraordinary high-altitude light, the dramatic scale of the landscape, and the intimate warmth of alpine weddings to create films that capture both the grandeur of the place and the love story at its center.

June Lake Wedding Tips
October Fall Color is Unmissable
The Eastern Sierra's aspen fall color typically peaks in the second and third weeks of October. June Lake Loop becomes a river of gold and orange against the granite peaks — there is genuinely nowhere in California that produces images of this quality in autumn. If you have any flexibility, October is the answer.
Summer Thunderstorms
Eastern Sierra afternoons in July and August can develop fast-moving thunderstorms. Morning and early afternoon ceremonies are safer than late afternoon for weather predictability. Always have a hard indoor backup confirmed.
Altitude Preparation
June Lake sits at 7,600 feet. Guests not acclimatized to altitude may feel light-headed or fatigued. Encourage guests to arrive the day before, hydrate heavily, and avoid alcohol until they are acclimated.
Highway 395 Access
June Lake is accessed via Highway 395 — a spectacular drive through the Owens Valley that is itself worth planning around. Guests driving from Los Angeles (5 hours) or the Bay Area (6 hours) will arrive having experienced one of California's great road journeys.

June Lake Wedding Videography FAQ
Do you film weddings in June Lake and the Eastern Sierra?
Yes. Film House Weddings films throughout the Eastern Sierra, including June Lake, Mammoth Lakes, Mono Lake, and surrounding Mono County. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a custom proposal for your venue and date.
How much does a wedding videographer cost in June Lake?
Every package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Pricing scales with coverage hours, team size, deliverables, and travel. We do not publish flat rates — reach out and we will build a proposal tailored to your celebration.
How far in advance should we book for a June Lake wedding?
We recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance. October fall-color weekends in particular fill early as they are among the most in-demand dates in the Eastern Sierra. That said, we occasionally have last-minute availability — reach out and we will let you know.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Have you filmed at Eastern Sierra venues?
We have filmed at mountain and alpine venues throughout California. If your specific venue is new to us, we arrive early to scout the mountain light, lake reflections, and timing so everything is prepared before your day.
Do you offer drone coverage at June Lake?
Yes. Aerial coverage is available as an add-on and is extraordinary in the June Lake Loop — the turquoise lakes and granite peaks from above are among the most spectacular drone subjects in California. We coordinate airspace and venue permissions ahead of your wedding day.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
What makes June Lake different from Lake Tahoe for a mountain wedding?
June Lake is wilder, more remote, and more dramatically scaled than Lake Tahoe. Where Tahoe offers luxury resort infrastructure, June Lake offers raw Eastern Sierra grandeur — the kind of landscape that makes guests stop mid-sentence and just stare. The light on the Eastern Sierra is also harder and more cinematic than the softer light of the west slope. For couples who want their wedding film to look genuinely extraordinary, the Eastern Sierra delivers something Tahoe simply cannot.
