In Joshua Tree, the 30 minutes before sunset and the 20 minutes after are when the landscape transforms from beautiful to transcendent. Build your entire day's schedule backward from these windows. A 5:30 PM sunset means portrait session begins at 4:45 PM at the absolute latest.
Night Sky Ceremonies Are Possible — With Planning
Joshua Tree's minimal light pollution produces some of the most spectacular night skies in California. If you want star footage or a blue-hour ceremony in your film, discuss technical requirements with your cinematographer early — specialized low-light equipment and longer production schedules are needed.
National Park Permits Must Be Secured Early
