Hood River occupies one of the most visually dramatic positions in the Pacific Northwest — perched above the Columbia River with Mt. Hood rising to the south and the basalt walls of the Gorge framing every horizon. It is a town built on wind and fruit: world-famous for windsurfing and kiteboarding, equally renowned for its cherry, apple, and pear orchards that bloom in extraordinary color each spring.
The surrounding Hood River Valley offers venue settings that are almost impossible to manufacture elsewhere — historic fruit-packing barns converted into elegant event spaces, vineyard terraces overlooking the Columbia, orchard estates where the mountain appears between the rows of trees, and riverfront parks where the wind sculpts the light into something genuinely cinematic. This is wedding country with a genuine sense of place.
Film House Weddings is based in Portland, just 60 miles west of Hood River on I-84. This is our backyard, and we film here regularly. We know which time of day the light wraps around Mt. Hood from the valley floor, which vineyard terraces face west, and how to build a wedding day timeline that honors everything Hood River has to offer.

Hood River Wedding Tips
Gorge Wind Is Real — Plan for It
The Columbia Gorge is one of the windiest inland corridors in the Pacific Northwest. Summer afternoons regularly bring 20–30 mph winds to Hood River. Plan outdoor ceremony timing for morning or early evening, and work with your florist on arrangements that can handle the breeze.
Blossom Season Is Extraordinary
Hood River Valley orchards bloom in late March through April — cherry first, then pear and apple. If you want a spring wedding with orchard blossoms as your backdrop, this two-to-three week window is spectacular. Book your venue and vendors 12–18 months out.
Mt. Hood Views Change by Hour
The mountain is visible from most Hood River Valley venues but the light quality varies dramatically. Morning light brings crisp clarity; late afternoon turns the snow pink and gold. Build your portrait session into the final hour before sunset for the most cinematic results.
I-84 Weekend Traffic
The stretch of I-84 between Portland and Hood River is a popular weekend route. Factor in extra travel time for guests driving from Portland on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings — it is not uncommon for the drive to take 90 minutes instead of 60.

Hood River Wedding Videography FAQ
Do you travel to Hood River for weddings?
Yes — Hood River is 60 miles from our Portland base and is part of our Pacific Northwest home market. We film here regularly and know the venue landscape, the Gorge light, and the orchard country well. No travel fees apply for Hood River weddings.
How much does a wedding videographer cost in Hood River?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. We do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your Hood River wedding.
How far in advance should we book for a Hood River wedding?
We recommend booking 9 to 18 months in advance for peak season dates. Hood River is a high-demand destination for Pacific Northwest weddings and vendors book quickly. If you have a blossom-season date in mind, book even earlier.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Have you filmed at vineyard and orchard venues in Hood River?
Yes. We have filmed throughout the Hood River Valley at vineyard estates, orchard properties, and Gorge-view venues. For any venue we have not visited before, we scout light, timing, and flow ahead of your wedding day.
Do you offer drone coverage for Hood River weddings?
Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on and is especially impactful in Hood River — the Gorge, the orchards, and Mt. Hood from above are extraordinary. Drone usage is coordinated ahead of time with your venue and local airspace rules.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
What makes Hood River unique as a wedding destination?
Very few places in the world give you a snow-capped volcano, a wild river, and an orchard valley all in one frame. Hood River's combination of dramatic natural scale and intimate wine-country warmth creates a wedding setting that is genuinely hard to replicate. On film, it is extraordinary.
