Half Moon Bay is Northern California's most dramatic coastal wedding destination — a rugged, windswept stretch of Pacific shoreline where oceanfront bluffs plunge to black-sand beaches, pumpkin farms line the coastal highway in autumn, and the Ritz-Carlton rises above the cliffs as one of the great luxury wedding venues on the entire West Coast.
The town sits at the midpoint of the San Mateo coast, 30 miles south of San Francisco, and carries an agricultural and maritime character that feels entirely distinct from the manicured beaches to the south. Moss Beach, Princeton Harbor, and the coastal farms of Pescadero add texture and variety to a region that rewards couples looking for something genuinely dramatic and deeply Californian.
Film House Weddings embraces the raw coastal beauty of the Half Moon Bay stretch. The interplay of dramatic cliff light, coastal fog, and the Ritz-Carlton's grand architecture creates wedding films of exceptional cinematic power — NorCal at its most beautiful.

Half Moon Bay Wedding Tips
Ritz-Carlton Blufftop
The ceremony lawn at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay is one of the most dramatic wedding settings in California. The Pacific is directly below. Book as early as possible.
Coastal Wind
The San Mateo coast is exposed to persistent northwest wind from late morning onward. Covered or sheltered ceremony spaces are worth prioritizing for afternoon events.
Pumpkin Festival
Half Moon Bay's Art and Pumpkin Festival in October draws massive crowds. Confirm your wedding weekend does not fall on festival weekend before booking.
Fog and Drama
Coastal fog at Half Moon Bay creates extraordinarily atmospheric wedding film moments. Embrace it — the light through the mist on the Ritz-Carlton bluffs is simply unlike anything else.

Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your wedding.
Do you film weddings in Half Moon Bay?
Yes. Film House Weddings serves Half Moon Bay, Moss Beach, Princeton, Pescadero, and the San Mateo coast.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend 12 to 18 months for the Ritz-Carlton and peak season dates. Summer and fall weekends book very early.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Which Half Moon Bay venues have you filmed at?
We have filmed throughout the San Mateo coast. If your venue is new to us, we scout it in advance.
Do you offer drone videography?
Yes. The cliff-top Ritz-Carlton and rugged San Mateo coastline are extraordinary from above. Drone coverage is available as an add-on, coordinated with local airspace rules.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
Will you provide a second shooter?
Our standard package is filmed by a two-person team. Additional shooters are available as an add-on.
