Guerneville is the soul of the Russian River Valley — a bohemian river town where towering coast redwoods frame a slow-moving river, vintage motor lodges have been transformed into boutique retreats, and a fiercely inclusive, creative community welcomes all couples with open arms. It is one of California's most beloved LGBTQ+ wedding destinations and a place with a genuine warmth that is impossible to manufacture.
The visual landscape of Guerneville is extraordinary for wedding filmmaking. Redwood light — that dappled, cathedral quality of sun filtering through ancient trees — is unlike any other setting in California. The Russian River itself, with its sandy banks and reflective surface, adds a second visual register that complements the forest perfectly.
Film House Weddings brings the same cinematic discipline to Guerneville that we bring to every location — but here we let the landscape lead. The redwoods do a great deal of the work. Our job is to find the light, stay quiet, and capture the love story unfolding inside one of nature's great cathedrals.

Guerneville Wedding Tips
Morning Light in the Redwoods
The best redwood light comes in morning — shafts of sun breaking through the canopy, casting deep shadows and warm pools of light. If you can schedule getting-ready portraits or a forest walk in the first two hours after sunrise, your film will have an otherworldly quality.
Russian River Flooding
The Russian River floods during heavy rain years, sometimes affecting access to lower-elevation venues. Always have a weather contingency plan and check your venue's flood history before booking.
Summer is Peak Season
Guerneville is busy July through September — river visitors, weekend crowds, and wedding season overlap. Reserve accommodations for your guests well in advance, especially for holiday weekends.
Embrace Inclusivity
Guerneville has one of the most welcoming, inclusive vendor communities in California. If you are a same-sex couple or have non-traditional ceremony elements, you will find the local vendor ecosystem deeply supportive and experienced.

Yes. Film House Weddings films throughout west Sonoma County, including Guerneville, Monte Rio, Forestville, and the Russian River Valley. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a custom proposal for your venue and date.
How much does a wedding videographer cost in Guerneville?
Every package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Pricing scales with coverage hours, team size, deliverables, and travel. We do not publish flat rates — reach out and we will build a proposal tailored to your celebration.
How far in advance should we book for a Guerneville wedding?
We recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance for peak summer season. That said, we occasionally have last-minute availability — reach out and we will let you know.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Is Film House Weddings LGBTQ+ friendly?
Absolutely and without reservation. We celebrate all couples and have filmed weddings for LGBTQ+ couples throughout California and beyond. Every couple receives the same cinematic care, creative investment, and enthusiastic support.
Do you offer drone coverage in the redwoods?
Drone coverage within Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve requires a special use permit. For properties outside the reserve, aerial coverage is available as an add-on. We confirm airspace and permit requirements ahead of your wedding day.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
What makes a redwood wedding film different?
The light inside an old-growth redwood grove is unlike anything else in photography or cinematography — ancient, cathedral, cinematic. Dappled sun through 200-foot canopies, deep shadows, and a profound sense of scale give redwood wedding films a quality that couples who have seen them describe as magical and unlike any other wedding video they have watched.
