Wedding Videography in Detroit

Detroit has one of the most dramatic visual identities of any American city. The Art Deco architecture here is world-class — the Guardian Building, the Fisher Building, the Detroit Institute of Arts — and the city's ongoing renaissance has added a layer of creative energy that makes it genuinely exciting right now. For couples who want a wedding film that feels bold and distinctive rather than generic, Detroit delivers a backdrop unlike anything in the Midwest.

Beyond downtown, metro Detroit has its own vocabulary of elegance. Grosse Pointe's lakeside estates, Birmingham's manicured streets, Ann Arbor's university energy, and the extraordinary wine country and cherry orchards of Traverse City — each sub-market has its own aesthetic identity, and we know how to work with all of them. Michigan's light in summer is particularly beautiful: long days, golden evenings, and the particular quality that Great Lakes proximity gives to every sunset.

We approach Detroit weddings with the same editorial sensibility we bring everywhere. We look for what is specific about this city, this couple, this particular Friday in October when the leaves are coming down on Woodward Avenue and everyone is dressed beautifully and something real is happening. Detroit couples tend to be authentic, and their films reflect that.

Detroit Wedding Tips

Lean into the Art Deco architecture

Detroit's Art Deco legacy — the Fisher Building, the Guardian Building, the Penobscot — provides extraordinary portrait backdrops that most couples never think to use. Even a brief detour through the lobby of the Fisher Building between venues will produce some of the most visually striking frames of your film.

Consider Traverse City for a destination feel

Northern Michigan's Traverse City is a four-hour drive but feels like a different world — cherry orchards, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Leelanau Peninsula vineyards, and Old Mission Peninsula farms. For Michigan couples who want a destination wedding without leaving the state, it is worth considering.

Summer timing along the Great Lakes

Great Lakes light in July and August is exceptional — long golden hours that extend well past 9 PM near the summer solstice. If you are planning a summer wedding, schedule your outdoor events for early evening and take advantage of light that rivals the Mediterranean.

Grosse Pointe for lakeside elegance

Grosse Pointe's historic estates along Lake St. Clair offer an understated, old-money elegance that photographs beautifully and feels distinct from the more industrial Detroit aesthetic. If you are looking for classic formal elegance in metro Detroit, look east of the city.

What Detroit venues do you recommend?

Meadow Brook Hall, the Detroit Institute of Arts, Planterra Conservatory, and the Inn at St. John's are among our favorites. The Fisher Building and Gem Theatre are extraordinary for couples who want downtown Detroit's Art Deco energy.

Do you film Traverse City and Northern Michigan weddings?

Yes. Traverse City is a beautiful summer destination with vineyard estates, cherry orchards, and Lake Michigan bay views. We travel to Northern Michigan for destination weddings throughout the summer season.

What is included in a Detroit wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with Detroit area wedding planners?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

What is the best season for a Michigan wedding?

June through September is peak season. Summer offers the Great Lakes' extraordinary long-day light. October is exceptional for foliage at Northern Michigan venues. Winter weddings at estate venues like Meadow Brook Hall have a particular stately beauty.

Can you film at the Detroit Institute of Arts?

The DIA hosts private events and has worked with cinematographers before. Venue access for filming is subject to their event contracts and lighting restrictions. We confirm filming parameters with every venue as part of our pre-wedding process.

Do you offer drone coverage in Michigan?

Yes. Drone coverage is available for Michigan weddings, particularly for Northern Michigan vineyard and lakeshore venues where aerial perspective adds dramatic scope. We confirm airspace and venue approval for every drone shoot.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
