Luxury Catalina Island Wedding Videographer
Film House Weddings captures cinematic wedding films on Catalina Island — the island escape 26 miles off the Los Angeles coast. From Avalon's harbor village to Descanso Beach Club and the wild coves of Two Harbors, we document every island love story with the same craft we bring to the mainland.

Catalina Island sits 26 miles off the coast of Los Angeles, and yet stepping ashore feels like entering an entirely different world. The Mediterranean-style village of Avalon, the Art Deco Casino Ballroom, the glass-clear water of the harbor, and the wild scrub-covered hills beyond town combine to create a wedding backdrop unlike anything on the mainland. For couples who want to give their guests a true destination experience without leaving California, Catalina delivers in every frame.
Access by ferry from Long Beach, San Pedro, or Dana Point — or by helicopter for those who want to arrive in style — sets the tone immediately. The island's car-free streets, historic architecture, and turquoise coves create an effortlessly cinematic atmosphere at every hour of the day. Golden hour over the harbor, first dances on the Descanso Beach Club terrace, and sunrise on the hillside are moments we return to again and again.
Film House Weddings has filmed on Catalina Island and throughout Southern California for over a decade. We handle all the logistics of island access so you can focus on your celebration — and we stay until the last boat to make sure nothing is missed. Every Catalina wedding film we deliver feels like a short film unto itself: sun-drenched, timeless, and distinctly California.

Catalina Island Wedding Tips
Book the Ferry Early
Catalina Express ferries fill up fast on summer weekends. Book tickets for your entire vendor team — including your videographer — as early as possible, and confirm return times after your reception ends.
Plan for Limited Vendor Access
Catalina has a small pool of on-island vendors. Most mainland vendors, including your videographer, will travel over on the day ferry and return on the last boat. Build your timeline to account for arrival and departure windows.
Golden Hour Over the Harbor
Avalon's east-facing harbor means sunrise is spectacular, but golden hour light wraps around the hillsides beautifully as the sun sets behind the island's spine. Schedule portraits on the terraces or upper roads for the richest light.
Weather and Wind
Catalina can be significantly windier than the mainland, especially at clifftop venues. Have a plan for hair, veils, and decor — and embrace the movement on film. Wind-swept island moments often become the most cinematic ones.

Catalina Island Wedding Videography FAQ
How much does a wedding videographer on Catalina Island cost?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day — we do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. Pricing scales with coverage hours, team size, deliverables, and travel. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your island wedding.
Do you travel to Catalina Island for weddings?
Yes. Film House Weddings is based in Orange County, California and Portland, Oregon. We film weddings on Catalina Island, throughout Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, and destinations worldwide. Travel fees apply for island access via ferry or helicopter.
How far in advance should we book our Catalina Island wedding videographer?
We recommend booking 9 to 18 months in advance for peak season dates. Catalina Island weddings are highly sought after and our calendar fills quickly. That said, we occasionally have last-minute availability — reach out and we will let you know.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Which Catalina Island venues have you filmed at?
We have filmed at venues throughout Southern California. If your venue is somewhere we have not visited before, we scout light, timing, and flow ahead of your wedding day so nothing is left to chance.
Do you offer drone and aerial wedding videography on Catalina Island?
Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on for Catalina Island weddings. Drone usage is coordinated ahead of time with your venue, island authorities, and local airspace rules to make sure everything is cleared for your wedding day.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
Will you provide a second shooter or videographer?
Our standard Catalina Island package is filmed by a two-person team — one cinematographer with each partner during getting ready, then full coverage for the ceremony, portraits, and reception. Additional shooters are available as an add-on and confirmed during the proposal stage.
