Cannon Beach is perhaps Oregon's most iconic coastal destination — a place where Haystack Rock rises 235 feet from the surf and tufted puffins nest in its sea-stacks each spring. The town itself is an arts colony of galleries, boutique hotels, and wood-shingled buildings that give it a character unlike any other coastal resort. For couples who want the Pacific Ocean as their ceremony backdrop, Cannon Beach delivers one of the most cinematically powerful settings in the Pacific Northwest.
Ecola State Park, perched on the headlands north of town, offers dramatic cliffside views across Crescent Beach and south toward Haystack Rock — one of the most photographed perspectives on the entire Oregon Coast. Tolovana Beach to the south provides a wider stretch of sand away from the most concentrated foot traffic. Every direction from Cannon Beach offers something extraordinary on film.
Film House Weddings is based in Portland, 80 miles to the east. We make the drive to Cannon Beach regularly — it is one of our favorite places to film anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. The combination of elemental natural drama and small-town charm creates wedding films with an atmosphere we genuinely love.

Cannon Beach Wedding Tips
Oregon Coast Weather Is Always a Variable
Cannon Beach sits in one of the foggiest corridors on the Pacific Coast. June gloom can persist through August, and fog often burns off by early afternoon. Have a covered ceremony option and embrace moody overcast light — it photographs and films beautifully.
Haystack Rock at Low Tide
Tide pools around Haystack Rock are only accessible at low tide. If incorporating the rock into your ceremony or portrait session, plan your timeline around the tide chart. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife also has seasonal wildlife protection zones around the rock.
Book Accommodations a Year Out
Cannon Beach has limited lodging inventory and high demand on summer weekends. A room block at the Stephanie Inn or Surfsand should be secured immediately after your venue is confirmed — ideally 12 months or more in advance.
US-26 and US-101 Traffic
The drive from Portland on US-26 is heavily traveled on summer Fridays and Saturdays. Guests arriving from Portland should be advised to leave by midmorning to avoid congestion, especially in July and August.

Cannon Beach Wedding Videography FAQ
Do you travel to Cannon Beach for weddings?
Yes — Cannon Beach is one of our favorite destinations on the Oregon Coast. Film House Weddings is based in Portland, just 80 miles east. Travel fees may apply depending on your coverage needs — we will include details in your proposal.
How much does a wedding videographer cost in Cannon Beach?
Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. We do not publish flat pricing because no two luxury weddings are the same. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your Cannon Beach wedding.
How far in advance should we book for a Cannon Beach wedding?
We recommend booking 12 to 18 months in advance. Cannon Beach has very limited vendor and lodging inventory on summer weekends. Early booking is essential.
What is included in a wedding film package?
We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.
Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?
Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.
Can we do a beach ceremony at Haystack Rock?
Beach ceremonies at Cannon Beach are subject to city of Cannon Beach event permit requirements. The area immediately around Haystack Rock has seasonal wildlife protection restrictions. We recommend working with a local wedding planner who knows the permit process to ensure your ceremony location is properly secured.
Do you offer drone coverage for Cannon Beach weddings?
Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on and is extraordinary at Cannon Beach — Haystack Rock and the coastline from above are genuinely spectacular. Drone usage requires advance coordination with local authorities and venue agreements.
How long until we receive our wedding film?
Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.
Do you provide raw footage?
Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.
What makes Cannon Beach special as a wedding destination?
Cannon Beach has a natural drama that very few places in the world can match — a 235-foot sea stack, a wild Pacific, and an arts colony that gives the town genuine culture and charm. Wedding films made here have an elemental quality that is simply impossible to replicate indoors or in a manufactured setting.
