Wedding Videography in Big Sur

Big Sur is the most cinematically dramatic coastline in America — 90 miles of rugged Santa Lucia Mountains plunging straight into the Pacific, with no cities, no strip malls, and no visual clutter between Highway 1 and the horizon. To get married here is to choose the most visually extraordinary setting on the continent, a place where the ceremony backdrop is one of the great natural wonders of the world.

Post Ranch Inn perches on a cliff 1,200 feet above the Pacific, its tree houses and ocean houses suspended between redwood canopy and open sky. Ventana Big Sur sits in a redwood canyon above the sea. The Hyatt Carmel Highlands crowns the headland at Carmel's southern edge, offering a gentler entry to the Big Sur experience with none of the remoteness trade-off.

Film House Weddings was built for locations like Big Sur. The interplay of fog, Pacific light, redwood forest shadow, and golden coastal hillsides creates wedding films of a visual power that is simply not achievable anywhere else in California. We know this coastline, its light, its moods, and how to capture all of it.

Why Choose Film House Weddings

Film House Weddings is a luxury wedding cinematography studio founded by Dennis Mulyar, a first-generation Ukrainian American filmmaker with a Bachelor's degree in Film and 15 years of experience across entertainment, beauty, and traditional film festivals. The studio has worked with clients including companies like Nike, Adidas, Snapchat, Paramount+, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Augustinus Bader. Featured in BRIDES magazine and Washington Wedding Day.

Based in Big Sur, our team has filmed hundreds of weddings at venues across the country and beyond. We are not a one-person operation. Film House Weddings is a team of dedicated filmmakers who share the same obsession with cinematic craft, candid emotion, and timeless storytelling. Dennis leads the creative vision while his team executes on the ground. The result is a cinematic experience built for couples who understand that their wedding film is not just for them. It is for future generations.

Every detail of our process exists to serve couples who refuse to take a chance when it comes to preserving their most important moments. We work directly with your planner and photographer to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed. Our team arrives early, stays late, and disappears into your day so you can live every moment fully.

Big Sur Wedding Tips

Book Post Ranch Immediately

Post Ranch Inn has only 39 rooms and holds fewer than 30 weddings per year. Inquire the day you are engaged — available dates disappear within hours of opening.

Highway 1 Closures

Highway 1 through Big Sur is subject to closure from landslides and winter storms. Have a contingency plan and monitor Caltrans alerts in the weeks before your wedding.

Fog and Light

Morning fog is common and can be spectacular — burning off by 10am to reveal crystal clarity. Don't fear the fog; it creates extraordinary atmosphere on film.

State Park Permits

Ceremonies on state park land require California State Parks event permits. Apply at least 6 months ahead. Sites like McWay Falls have strict guest count limits.

Big Sur Wedding Videography FAQ

How much does a luxury wedding videographer cost in Big Sur?

Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your wedding.

Do you film weddings in Big Sur?

Yes. Big Sur is one of our most cherished filming locations. We travel the full length of the coast from Carmel Highlands to Lucia.

How far in advance should we book?

For Post Ranch Inn and Ventana, inquire immediately upon engagement — 18 to 24 months is common for premium dates.

What is included in a wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Which Big Sur venues have you filmed at?

We have filmed at cliffside resorts and coastal venues throughout the Big Sur and Carmel Highlands corridor.

Do you offer drone videography?

Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on — Big Sur's coastline from the air is one of the most spectacular drone subjects in the world. Airspace and NPS permit requirements apply.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner — let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it — our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.

Will you provide a second shooter?

Our standard package is filmed by a two-person team. Additional shooters are available as an add-on.
